2020 New Britain High School
Scholarship Winner
PAULINA FERONY AMEZQUITA
Paulina was honored to have been a cadet in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program at New Britain High School in her junior year, where she graduated as a Sergeant and received the Superior Cadet award. She became a member of The Facsimile Drill Team and The Armed Color Guard Team, here she realized that it was the exact environment where she belonged. It was always fairly obvious to her that she belonged in an atmosphere where there was Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Good luck for her, those are exactly the marine corps values. Paulina took on extra classes so that she could graduate a year early, her efforts paid off as she enlisted in The United States Marine Corps in November and became a poolee in The United States Marine Corps. Now she is shipping off to basic training on September 8, 2020.
Paulina is also a part of the New Britain Police Explorers Program, where she earned the rank of Field Training Officer (FTO) and was able to volunteer, help and interact with her community. She also got the privilege to train and learn from officers, detectives and SWAT team members of the New Britain Police Department. Her goal is to earn the title marine and wear it with pride where she hopes to grow and embark on a new but great worth journey. She also hopes to go active for a couple terms and come out with a bachelor's degree in science, to then transfer to the USMC reserves where she will then attend veterinarian school and earn the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
